TASK:

After an introduction to research tools available in the Media Center you will choose a newsworthy event that occurred during your lifetime and which had a personal effect on you in some way. You will research the event and find the answers to the basic questions: who, what, when, where, why. You will relate the event to its importance in your own life.

You need to use the available resources described during the orientation:

Note: If no information is available about the event in any of these resources you may [with teacher permission] use an Internet search engine, such as Lycos or Ask Jeeves, to look for information on the event.

 

Step 3 Gathering Resources

You will obtain information from the sources you found.

 

Step 4 Sort

You will record the information you found in an organized manner to answer the questions you proposed in Step 1.

 

Steps 5-6 Synthesis/ Evaluation

You will determine whether you have enough information to complete the task and answer the research questions. If not, you will revisit Step 2 and Step 3.
