There are so many people living in Germany that housing can be hard to find. Many families live in apartments instead of in single-family homes. Usually there is a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, and one or two bedrooms. For that reason, people tend to stay in the same homes rather than move often. Yard space is small so many children play in the streets instead of on lawns. Even though space is tight, families still keep pets such as dogs, cats and hamsters.
