In Germany there are high snow-covered peaks of the Alps mountains, lush green meadows and clear, clean lakes. As it stretches northward, the German countryside changes from the high mountains and foothills of the south to the plains and river basins in the center to the lowlands heading toward the sea. The mountain areas are cold and snowy. The winter temperatures are around freezing and the summer temperatures average 65 degrees.
Germany is in the center of Europe. It is bordered by Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Poland and Luxembourg. Sixteen states make up Germany.
Wildlife
The climate in the mountains makes a perfect home for the wild boar, a powerful animal with a black body, sharp tusks and a long snout.
