Bad Day
Kelsey Younce

I dodged almost everything you threw.
And when you were done I told you.
That the scrapes and bruises were no match for my apologies.
And I skipped over all our fights.
And dug a whole with you almost every night.
The neighbors could hear us yelling but could not see...

I saw you
Screaming in the corner.
You told me
It was just a bad, bad day.
I held you
I tried to be softer.
You got uncomfortable
And pushed me away.

Nothing stung quite like those few choice words.
Nothing quite hurt like you slipping from my grasp.
I scrambled for cover when you blew.
Collected your pieces, put them back together with glue.
Tried to leave out the parts from the past.

I saw you
Screaming in the corner.
You told me
It was just a bad, bad day.
I held you
I tried to be softer.
You got uncomfortable
And pushed me away.

Keep pushin' me away.
Pushin' me away.
Come on an' push me away.
Push me away.

I saw you
Screaming in the corner.
You told me
It was just a bad, bad day.
I held you
I tried to be softer.
You got uncomfortable
And pushed me away.
