It all started on a trip to the museum. "God Julie, why did we go here anyway? It's so boring!" Calliope whined to her twin sister Julie. "Because, this place has all these cool art pieces. It just gives me a spark of inspiration, you know?" Julie said. "The only thing that inspires me is the fifty dollars in my purse, and it inspires me to shop at the museum gift shop." Calliope replied. Twin sisters. After the age of for, almost every pair tries to look and be different from the other. Calliope and Julie were prime examples. Calliope was the superficial one. She always wore the latest trends. For example, the day she and her sister were in the museum, she was wearing a baby tee that showed off her navel, with low-rise jeans and trendy sandals. Her hair was long and blonde, and she held it back with a hair band. Julie was a different story. She always was amazed by everything, from ancient civilizations to an ant colony in the zoo. Julie also did everything to stand out. For example, at the museum, she wore a vintage t-shirt, a white mini skirt over a pair of patched and paint stained jeans (which Calliope absolutely hated), and old riding boots. Julie's hair was cut into a pixie style and was dyed blue-violet (Calliope couldn't stand that either). "Hey, look at that statue, it looks so cool!" Julie said. "Julie, it looks like a six armed elephant with big boobs." Calliope said. Ignoring her, Julie took out her sketchbook and gel pen and began to sketch. Calliope was about to put in her tenth piece of gum in her mouth when a zombie like voice growled ominously, "No gum allowed in the museum." Calliope turned around and saw the short, frizzy haired museum caretaker. She was looking at calliope as if she ran over her dog. "OK, don't get your depends tied in a knot." Calliope said. She threw away the piece of gum. "All of it." The woman said, holding out her hand. "OK, if you say so," Calliope said in a would-be innocent voice. She then spat out the wad of purple and green bubble gum into the woman's wrinkly and knobby hands. "Disgusting!" the old woman muttered. "I know. Were you always this ugly?" Calliope asked. "You little brat!" The old caretaker growled. She then turned to Julie and said "And you! No pens allowed in this museum." "Oh, I'm sorry, I'll just put it away and-" Julie started, but the caretaker thundered, "No! You must throw it away! Now!" Before Julie could respond, Calliope said, "Hey, isn't that man over there drinking coffee?" "Not on my watch!" the old woman said, and rushed to the next room. "Now's our chance, let's get out of here!" Calliope said. The two rushed out of the room and didn't look back. |
