Examine and explore space in works of art. | Define space in art works.Show examples of space, both 2-D and 3-D in works of art. Have children identify the parts of the picture space: top, bottom, left, and right, foreground, and background in selected works of art from a variety of periods through history and cultures. (M) Use examples of 3-D art to illustrate space and to define what a sculpture is.Have the students work with clay or dough to create a sculpture of a person or an animal. Reinforce the idea that the object will be seen from all sides. Review a variety of art prints illustrating space in city, town and country landscapes. Have students create a country or city landscape by painting a background and adding construction paper buildings. |
