Examine and explore value in works of art. | Define value and provide examples of value in art from a variety of artists, cultures and times in history. (M) Show students how to make a color lighter or darker by adding black or white to a color. Have the students paint a landscape with light and darks of colors. For example, they could paint light green grass and dark green trees, light blue sky and dark blue birds. Have the students cut out a shape from a compressed sponge. Dip the sponge in paint one time and print it three times - one print should be dark, one medium and one light which is a value scale. Continue printing to create a pattern. |
