The student will demonstrate understanding of the visual arts as a basic aspect of history and human experiences.

Examine and explore form in works of art. Teacher defines and shows examples of form in art and the environment. Students are asked to classify form as natural or man-made from examples given whether in the art room or 2D prints.

Students can use clay to explore a variety of hand building methods. Teacher introduces pinch, slab, and coil. Students freely experiment with additive and subtractive techniques to create a product that has 3D form in the clay media. (MO)

Our bodies have form. Students can create 3D letters and shapes using their bodies or groups of bodies. Students can compare this with 2D sketches of figure drawings done in color marker. (MI)
