Value can be identified as light and dark. | Landscape of a cloudy day - Look at the work of Claude Monet, J.M.W. Turner, John Constable and El Greco. Study the light of clouds and weather formations. Discuss drawing the shapes of clouds and have students use different shades of blue, white, and gray paint. To paint their sky. After the sky is finished have students paint trees in shades of brown, black, and green. This could also be done with cut paper. (E) Underwater scenes - Using shades of blue and white of chalk or paint, have students use various lines across paper then blend together discussing light and dark of blue.
