Rationale:
These activities were designed to be an independent center or anchor activity for students to do after completing their Guided Reading work. Our primary goal was to incorporate technology and use of the classroom computer. We designed the activities around the essential questions and word work for theme 6 focusing on the evaluative strategy.

Technology
Students will use electronic reference/resources to: locate, evaluate, and collect information from a variety of resources to enhance learning through a focused web page and Internet sites.
Tips:
Create an endangered species bulletin board near your classroom computer. Include preprinted worksheets for your students to complete while using the center. Post step by step instructions for students to locate the project web page.

Power Point Activities:
Click on the file links below to download interactive Power Point presentations. These presentations were found at the following Internet location: http://jc-schools.net/PPTs.html#Language%20Arts. To use the presentations, click on the title and the file will be downloaded to your computer. Place these files in a location your students can access. The group shared folder would be the most likely place. Make sure you are part of your students' grade level group when downloading these files. Students would then log in with their own name, navigate to the group shared folder and click on the file to start the presentation.
