During this
activity, you will be learning about some Maryland landmarks and points of
interest connected to the Chesapeake Bay.
The Chesapeake Bay is one of MarylandÕs greatest natural resources. As a
resident of Cecil County, you have a special responsibility to the health and
protection of this resource. One goal of this project is to help you begin to
acquire some of the background knowledge you will need to become an informed
citizen.
As we begin our
journey down the Bay, we will visit just a few of the lighthouses that are
found from the Northern most to the Southern most parts of the Bay. These
lighthouses are so important for the safety of mariners and are a great
attraction for tourists as well. To help you learn more about them, you will
complete the task below. Remember to read carefully. Your responses need to be
in sentence form.

On a large map
of Maryland, locate the spots where the lighthouses that you researched would
be found. Put a post-it note on each spot to identify the location of the
Maryland lighthouses. (Hint: There is a map on the website for each lighthouse,
if you need help locating the spot.)
If you would
like to find out some information about Virginia Lighthouses in the Chesapeake
Bay, use the same website. Scroll down to Virginia and click on it to see
Virginia Lighthouses. Visit the following lighthouses and record two
interesting facts about each lighthouse.
